Laser Safety |
From a safety point of view laser processing differs from other traditional working processes due to the hazards of eye damage and injuries to the skin from the laser radiation. The degree of danger in a certain laser application depends on the laser type and the power of the laser and in addition on several other conditions.
Over the past years a wide range of European standards have been published on the laser safety area and still new standards are coming up. In the Nordic Countries as well as most of the other countries in Europe the requirements and guidelines in these standards are followed to secure the safety.
The risk of hazardous laser radiation depends highly on the composition of equipment in the installation and having in mind that the safety distance for the laser radiation can be between few cm to several km, a risk assessment is required in each application case.
FORCE Laser Center have more than 15 years of experience with laser safety which have been achieved through customer jobs and participation in several Danish and European development projects.
