As the first 10 kW fibre laser was put into operation in August of 2004 at the SLV Mecklenburg-Vorpommern GmbH a rapid evolution in increase of efficiency in the range of fibre lasers reached a new dimension. In the course of the following years many different industrial applications were researched by using this laser source. By means of some examples the achieved results and experiences in field-testing of the 10 kW fibre laser will be reported. The consequences for the industrial use of such laser sources resulting from this experiences will be described.
