Laser transmission welding has become a well-known technique to join plastics in the past few years. One of the less known techniques is called quasi-simultaneous laser welding, where the laser beam is scanned several times across the welding path heating it up gradually until the entire weld is melted almost at the same time. Quasi-simultaneous welding is a flexible and a fast technique to join plastics and therefore it has gained interest in mass-production. In quasisimultaneous welding short welding time can be achieved with different parameter combinations. Up to now no systematic data of these parameter combinations has been published. In this study the effect of different parameter combinations to the weld properties in quasi-simultaneous laser welding was defined for polypropylene (PP). |
